NBA: Spurs give each other a Christmas present

After two defeats in late October and mid-November against the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), the San Antonio Spurs turned the tables on Thursday. They prevailed away confidently with 138: 110. Jakob Pöltl contributed eight points, three rebounds and two assists to the 13th win of the season. The center was in use for 20:59 minutes.

The Texans were able to rely on their bench in the last game before Christmas. The substitutes made up no less than 69 and thus exactly half of the points their team scored. With Keita Bates-Diop a “reservist” was also the top scorer. The 25-year-old forward scored 30 points, a career best.

“A good evening throwing and what a performance our bankers did,” said Pöltl, commenting on the outcome of the game. The Spurs will receive the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The Michigan team is currently bottom of the NBA with just five wins from 31 games.

Numerous failures at the hosts

In their fourth consecutive defeat, the Lakers not only had to do without Anthony Davis, who was injured in the knee. Another five players were missing because they, like coach Frank Vogel, are currently subject to the league’s health and safety protocol. LeBron James (36 points) and Russell Westbrook (30) were offensively alone at the record champion.

In downtown Los Angeles, the last time the game was played in the hall under the name Staples Center was on Thursday. As of Saturday, the new name will be Arena. 700 million dollars (618.92 million euros) for the next two decades were put on the table for this.

The top trio of the league remained consistently victorious. Leader Phoenix Suns beat Oklahoma City Thunder 113: 101. Devin Booker scored 30 points. Stephen Curry threw pursuers Golden State Warriors with 46 points to a 113-104 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The guard used eight of 14 long-range throws. And Utah Jazz beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-116. Donovan Mitchell was the most successful scorer in the Salt Lake City franchise with 28 points.
