After 1: 1 against Kiel: HSV whistled by the fans

If it goes against Kiel, not much is possible at HSV – it remains that way in Hamburg’s fourth second division year. In the seventh comparison with Holstein, HSV again failed to win, the 1: 1 (1: 0) caused deep frustration in the Volkspark. The HSV fans said goodbye to their professionals with shrill whistles.

Again nothing. The next missed chance in the Volkspark, where HSV only won one game this season. And how similar the events were: HSV lost an early 1-0 against Düsseldorf and had to put up with whistles. This time too, the majority of the 39,543 fans left disgruntled. Because HSV could not take advantage of the mistakes of the competition and missed the great opportunity to shoot their way up to the promotion places.

Personnel worries prevailed before the north derby in the Volkspark and the fans didn’t really know what to expect from HSV. In addition to left-back Leibold (torn cruciate ligament), keeper Heuer Fernandes (knee problems) was also missing, as feared. Substitute Johansson celebrated his HSV competitive debut for him.

Kittel brought HSV into the lead early on

Nevertheless: It started well after Kiels Pichler woke HSV with his shot at the left outer post (7th). The HSV’s first trick was right away: Alidou was brought down by the basket in the penalty area, and Kittel transformed the penalty kick into the lead on the top right – the 1-0 (12th minute). Strong action: The HSV professionals lifted a jersey of the injured Leibold in their jubilation.

HSV was the leading team even after the leadership. The skepticism of the fans, however, remained, because the better opportunities had the guests lurking on the counterattack. Pichler aimed just past (25th), then Bartels had to score to 1-1, but failed because of the brilliantly reacting HSV goalkeeper Johansson (42nd). The first feat of the Swede, who shouted his joy beyond that.

Immediately after the change, Kiel equalized to 1: 1

It was already clear what would happen immediately after the restart for the second half. Pichler closed another counterattack after Bartels Pass with the equalizer – 1: 1 (46th).

A shock for the HSV, whose fans were impatient and which now increasingly tense. Nevertheless, he had a great chance to make it 2-1, but the substitute Kaufmann moved from eight meters (60th).

Ex-HSV striker Arp was whistled badly

After that, not much was possible. And not much was missing for the victory of Kiel, who repeatedly exploited the gaps in the Hamburg defensive game. Ex-HSV striker Arp, who was whistled badly when he was substituted on (69th), failed because of Johansson (71st). Holtby, still an ex-Hamburger, shot over it (90th). The rest was Hamburg frustration. And whistles.

A new disappointment in the Volkspark, because HSV could not take the momentum of the victories in Paderborn (2: 1) and Nuremberg (4: 2 after penalties) with them. And questions remain: Why are the people of Hamburg waiting for an all-round convincing performance even after twelve match days? Why are the professionals unable to adapt their style of play with a guide in their backs?

HSV professional Heyer: “More was not deserved”

Ultimately a question of quality. The majority of fans, however, have no understanding for this. Defensive man Moritz Heyer called the child after the draw at “Sky” soberly by name: “More would not have been deserved today.”
