Oscar Isaac Calls Moon Knight The Best Risk Of His Career

Oscar Isaac says joining the MCU for the Moon Knight Disney+ was the best risk of his career, and he’s having a blast playing Marc Spector.

Oscar Isaac is having a blast filming Moon Knight and says doing the Marvel Studios show is the best risk of his career. After the studio announced the first wave of Marvel Disney+ shows, it wasn’t long before a solo series for Moon Knight was announced. Marc Spector’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been anticipated for years and the interest in seeing him appear skyrocketed after it was announced that Oscar Isaac will play him.

Isaac has been busy filming Moon Knight for the last few months. Although Marvel is keeping a tight lid on the production, endless amounts of hype have been heaped upon it from those involved. Isaac has helped lead this charge by saying Moon Knight will be groundbreaking. His co-star Ethan Hawke has also sung the praises of Marvel’s upcoming series and Isaac’s performance in the lead role. It seems like everything is going incredibly well with the series, which has allowed Isaac to once again celebrate the show and how happy he is to be collaborating with Marvel Studios.

While doing press for his new movie The Card Counter, Oscar Isaac spoke to Good Morning Arizona (via The Direct) about his career. One of the questions he was asked was about the best risk he’s taken during his acting career. Without much hesitation, Isaac said that Moon Knight is his answer. He admits to being nervous about signing up for the MCU project but mentions that it has been completely worth it so far.

I gotta say, what I’m doing right now, I’m doing this show called Moon Knight. We got a month left, and I feel like, so far, that this might be the one where I was like ‘I was so nervous about it,’ but I’ve just been having such a blast.”

Prior to joining Moon Knight, it appeared that Oscar Isaac was preparing to take a step back from appearing in major IP franchises. His experience playing the villain in X-Men: Apocalypse was not a positive one, and it was clear by the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that he wasn’t entirely happy either. Those projects could be a major reason behind Isaac having any trepidation about doing Moon Knight at first. Signing on to play Marc Spector in the Disney+ series and the MCU’s future shows that Marvel Studios won him over in a big way. Thankfully, he doesn’t regret that decision at all right now.

Isaac’s continuous praise for Moon Knight is sure to only further drive excitement in the series. Marvel Studios hasn’t announced exactly when the show will be released, but it will stream on Disney+ sometime in 2022. Isaac confirmed that filming will be done in one month too, so more news on Moon Knight could be right around the corner. Whenever it does arrive, hopefully the show lives up to the hype that Marvel and Isaac are bringing to it.
