Light for Future: the project promoted by the Municipality of Recanati and iGuzzini illuminazione in collaboration with IALD, the Academy of Fine Arts of Macerata and the DEA with the artistic direction of Giancarlo Basili, wins the regional tender for the enhancement of the historic centers of the municipalities from the Marches

The announcement comes in conjunction with the “International Day of Light”, the annual anniversary promoted by UNESCO for May 16 that highlights the importance of light and its role in the daily life of each individual

Light for Future, which is part of the three-year program of Culture 2021-2023 for the realization of a special project directed by the region, wins the announcement of the Region for interventions of artistic installations aimed at the enhancement of the villages and historic centers of the Marche municipalities. The theme of the call for 2021 is “light design” intended as an intervention capable of promoting an effective interaction between the urban environment and contemporary art-creativity and of transforming places into lively and proactive realities.

The project, promoted by Municipality of Recanati and by iGuzzini illuminazione in collaboration with the International Lighting Design Association IALD, the Academy of Fine Arts of Macerata and the Distribution Electric Adriatica DEA company under the artistic direction of the scenographer Giancarlo Basili, provides for the architectural lighting of representative places of the Marche city and the projection of images and suggestions able to dialogue with people in a luminous and narrative path aimed at raising awareness of citizens and visitors on the theme of environmental sustainability.

“We are very satisfied with the result obtained, being selected demonstrates how Recanati wants to start from the culture and projects shared with the excellence of the territory. Once again, teamwork has been a winner. The artistic installations that we are going to create will be an opportunity to enhance the historic center but also for sociality and inclusion for our community. ” said Rita Soccio, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Recanati.

To set up the Scientific Committee, led by the set designer Giancarlo Basili, the sociologist Domenico De Masi, and the architect Mario Cucinella – together with the Municipality of Recanati, iGuzzini, IALD (in the person of the lighting designer Susanna Antico) and the Academy of Fine Arts (in the person of Francesca Cecarini). In addition to the architectural lighting of some places in the historic center of the city, the project includes the projection of images resulting from a call to action launched by IALD and iGuzzini to four of the most important international lighting design studios – Arup, Licht Kunst Licht, Light Bureau e Speirs Major – on the use of light as a tool for social innovation and an element of urban regeneration. The four studios have interpreted their personal interpretation of environmental sustainability by creating the creative concepts that will be evoked by the different places in Recanati.

“We are thrilled to be part of this project so important for Recanati, which we strongly wanted together with the Municipality. This is a further commitment of the company in the research and development of solutions capable of enhancing places of great value, which are also our places. Through creativity and light we want to promote our city, to project it towards the future but with strong roots in its history, its culture, its architecture and its landscape. ” comments Adolfo Guzzini, President Emeritus of iGuzzini illuminazione.

Light for Future represents a further step for the enhancement of the architectural and environmental heritage of Recanati with the aim of increasing its attractiveness, including tourism, and enhancing its cultural identity.
